The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is proud to announce the grand opening of the new Fortville Elementary School, located at 8367 N. 200 W., Fortville, IN 46040. The community is invited to join the celebration on May 15th for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house events marking this exciting milestone.

The celebration begins at 10:00 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, welcoming the community and marking the start of a new era in education for the Fortville area. A special moment in the celebration will include Fortville Elementary students burying a time capsule. Thoughtfully designed with students in mind, the new facility supports student safety and engaging, effective learning—highlighting the district’s ongoing dedication to education.

Following the morning ceremony, Mt. Vernon staff members will have exclusive access to tour the new school at 3:00 p.m.

To cap off the celebration, the school will open its doors to the public with a Community Open House from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Families, neighbors, and local supporters are encouraged to attend, explore the new space, and celebrate the beginning of an exciting chapter in education at Fortville Elementary.
