PURPOSE & INITIATIVES:
The Community Relations Department leads both internal and external communications as well as all marketing efforts to strengthen the connection between Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) and its stakeholders. Through strategic media relations, website engagement, and coordinated outreach with community partners, the department works to engage staff, parents, and the broader community. All initiatives are aligned with the district’s mission, with the overarching goal of fostering a consistently positive perception of MVCSC.

Every other year in the fall, we invite realtors and contractors to join us for a breakfast to get to know our schools, meet leadership and build relationships. Feel free to contact us to ensure you get an invitation, or be on the lookout for more information and sign-ups closer to the actual event.

The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is committed to transparent and meaningful communication with our community, recognizing the importance of demonstrating how taxpayer dollars are invested. We take pride in sharing the many positive stories and achievements taking place throughout our district, helping our community feel connected to and proud of the schools they support. Below are some of the ways we keep our community informed and engaged:

Mt. Vernon Mainstream Newsletters

• mailed twice a year to in-district residents and parents, with the July issue housing the Back-to-School information
• shared electronically with staff and the greater community

Superintendent's Summary

• shared digitally to all parents/guardians and staff four times a year
• shared on social media for the greater community

News Articles on the District & School Homepages

• shared with the community through the media and the district/school social media
• shared with staff through an internal Insider Newsletter

Individual School Newsletters & Announcements

• each school sends weekly newsletters to their parents/guardians via ParentSquare
• school announcements are shared daily with students through a variety of methods (email, daily announcements and slideshows)

"Traveling Talks" with Superintendent Dr. Parker

• be on the lookout for events to grab a bite at a local establishment with Dr. Parker and ask him any questions while getting an update on Mt. Vernon. These will be promoted in our news articles, school newsletters, and on the district’s social media.
