Changes to School Times in 2025-2026 & Learn More About the Mt. Vernon Intermediate School

The MVCSC Board of Trustees has officially approved the school times for the 2025–2026 school year, paving the way for the successful reopening of the district’s intermediate school. This decision comes after months of planning, collaboration, and thoughtful consideration of how to best support students during a time of growth.

To guide the process, district leaders consulted with other school systems that have managed similar transitions. They explored how those districts handled the challenges of expansion, transportation logistics, and student scheduling. After analyzing the data, the school board approved a bell schedule tailored to meet the needs of our community.

Three key guiding principles shaped the new schedule:

• Consistent School Day Length: Ensuring every student across the district receives a similar instructional day.
   
• Improved Transportation Timing: Adjustments to allow more efficient bus routing and better service during peak times.
   
• Maintained Dismissal Times: Keeping release times close to current schedules to provide consistency for families.

These changes are designed to support a smooth transition as the intermediate school reopens and maintain a balanced, student-focused approach to daily learning.

All school times have changed a few minutes to allow a fourth tier to the daily schedule with the reopening of the Mt. Vernon Intermediate School, which will be similar to the secondary schools. Fifth and sixth grade students will ride the bus with middle school and high school students, as MV has done in previous years. Students will be seated on the bus with fifth grade at the front of the bus and high school students at the rear.
