Congrats Teacher & Staff of the Year - Building Winners
Congrats Teacher & Staff of the Year - Building Winners
Each year, the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation collaborates with the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation (MVEF) to honor a Teacher of the Year (TOY) and Staff of the Year (SOY) in each building. The process begins with staff members nominating up to three individuals for both TOY and SOY in their respective buildings. After the top three nominees with the most votes are announced, staff members evaluate them based on criteria such as dedication, teamwork, caring, student focus, commitment to lifelong learning, and innovation. The TOY and SOY for each building have been selected; please help congratulate the building winners who have exemplified the previously listed qualities.

Each building winner receives two tickets to the MVEF Black & Gold Gala on April 12, along with a custom engraved glass sculpture and a $500 cash award sponsored by the Ryan Fry Excellence in Education Fund. This MVEF fund was established by Kevin and Jill Prefontaine in 2018 in memory of Jill’s brother, Ryan Fry. Since its inception, the Ryan Fry Excellence in Education Fund has provided over $80,000 in support to educators and staff. Jill’s only request has been that recipients use the funds to create meaningful experiences for themselves or their families. The final district Teacher of the Year and Staff Member of the Year will each receive an additional $2,000 cash award from the fund.
Please celebrate their outstanding contributions to our schools by attending the MVEF Black and Gold Gala on April 12. The building winners will be formally honored at the event, along with the official announcement of the District's Teacher and Staff of the Year, selected by a MVEF committee.
Congratulations to all of our 2024-2025 building TOY and SOY winners!
