Dr. Lori Katz Named IASP District 10 Middle School Principal of the Year

Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) is proud to announce that Mt. Vernon Middle School (MVMS) Principal Dr. Lori Katz has been named the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) District 10 2026 Middle School Principal of the Year.
Each year, the IASP recognizes outstanding elementary, middle, high school, and assistant principals with this prestigious award in each of Indiana’s 12 districts.
The selection process begins with nominations submitted by parents, teachers, or fellow administrators. Committees within each of the 12 IASP districts then review nominations and select district-level winners in each category. Final selections for the State Winners are reviewed by the IASP Blue Ribbon Committee, which is composed of previous award recipients.
To be considered for the award, principals must have at least three years of experience as a building principal and demonstrate exceptional commitment, leadership, and positive impact within their school community. Candidates are also recognized for supporting successful school programs, maintaining positive staff and school morale, and exhibiting strong leadership skills.
"I am incredibly excited, grateful, and humbled to receive this award. This recognition reflects the incredible team of teachers and staff I have the privilege of working alongside every day,” shared Dr. Katz. “Their dedication, passion, and commitment to our students are the reason we are able to do such meaningful work in our school and community. I’m proud to be part of the Mt. Vernon team that cares so deeply about making a difference."
Superintendent Dr. Jack Parker stated, “Dr. Lori Katz continually pushes Mt. Vernon Middle School forward through her commitment to growth, innovation, and student success. Her creativity in advancing educational initiatives and her dedication to continuous improvement make her incredibly deserving of this recognition as District 10 Principal of the Year.”
MVCSC is proud of Dr. Katz and the positive, student-centered culture she has helped foster at Mt. Vernon Middle School. The district wishes her the best of luck as she advances to the state competition for the IASP Middle School Principal of the Year. Winners will be announced at the Awards Banquet during the IASP Fall Professionals Conference in November
