Miles for Meals Turkey Trot: 5K to Benefit MV Meal Balance Accounts
Run, Walk, & Give Back!
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, lace up your running shoes and join the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation (MVEF) and the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) Food Service Department for the Miles for Meals Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk at Landmark Park in Fortville. The race runs from 9:00–11:00 a.m.
This festive event isn’t just about fitness—it’s about fueling something greater. All proceeds benefit the MVEF Angel Fund, which helps cover students’ overdue meal balances. In the past three years alone, MVCSC has absorbed more than $51,800 in unpaid meal debt, funds that could have otherwise supported educational opportunities._1761323777.png)
The Turkey Trot welcomes runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors. Local businesses, families, and community leaders can make a lasting impact by becoming sponsors, gaining recognition on event signage, promotional materials, and T-shirts. Participants who register by November 12 are guaranteed a race T-shirt.
“Covering negative balances takes away funding that could otherwise support teachers, students, and extracurricular programs,” said Kasey Pasyk, Assistant Director of Food Services. “Our goal with this race is to reduce that burden on the district as much as possible.”
Renee Oldham, Executive Director of the MVEF, stated, “Every stride at the Turkey Trot fuels something greater — the MVEF Angel Fund, which helps cover students’ overdue meal balances. Through the support from our community, MVEF bridges the gap to ensure that feeding every child is never a financial burden and that every child is nourished, ready to learn, grow, and soar.”
After the race, enjoy the spirit of the season by shopping and dining along Fortville Main Street, where vendors may offer exclusive discounts for participants.
Volunteers are also needed before, during, and after the race to help with set-up, course monitoring, and clean-up.
The Miles for Meals Turkey Trot is more than a fun run—it’s a reflection of Mt. Vernon’s generous spirit and the community’s commitment to lifting one another up.
