MVMS Celebrates 50 Years of Golden Memories with an Open House on 11/2!
The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) is proud to celebrate a significant milestone, the 50th anniversary of Mt. Vernon Middle School (MVMS). To mark this occasion, the school will host a special open house themed “Once a Marauder, Always a Marauder: 50 Years of Golden Memories.”

All members of the Mt. Vernon community are invited to join the celebration. A brief presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m., highlighting the school’s history, growth, and accomplishments, and will include a special student performance. During the program, former and current MVMS principals and superintendents will be recognized for their contributions to MVMS’s success, including Dave Heller, John Price, Dr. Bill Riggs, Ben Williams, and more!
- In Marauder Hall, guests can explore a historical timeline showcasing significant moments from each decade of MVMS’s journey. The display will feature key events and administrators who helped to shape the school’s legacy, along with many yearbooks.
- Attendees are invited to write their own “golden memories of MVMS” and pin them to the timeline, adding a personal touch to this collective celebration.
Guests will also enjoy celebratory cupcakes provided by the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation and have the chance to self-tour the building, reflecting on fond memories while viewing the school’s many renovations and updates. The event will conclude at 3 p.m.
MVCSC extends its heartfelt gratitude to the generations of community members who have supported MVMS over the past 50 years. Your continued involvement ensures a strong foundation for future Marauders.
